Mrs.
Corrie Reese

After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University
(May 2000), with a B.F.A. in Art Education, Mrs. Corrie Reese has
obtained most of her teaching experience in middle school Art Education.
She has taught at Paris Gibson Middle School in Great Falls, Montana
and Mountain View Middle School in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Mrs. Reese
always knew she had a passion for art but, discovered her passion
for teaching literature as well. She feels that it is important to
empower young students by nurturing their creative side and teaching
them how to read and write so that they may better express themselves.
You will now find Mrs. Reese in her true calling, teaching Kindergarten
at Southland Christian School.
Now settled in Valdosta, Corrie and her husband, David, have lived
here for four years. David works with Southeastern Protection Services
for Moody Air Force Base and is a reservist in the Army National
Guard. They have three children: Emma (six) is in first grade; Molly
(four) is in pre-K and Blaine is six months old. The Reese family
attends The Gathering.

Joe Ann Stafford

Joe
Ann Stafford has served as a Para-pro at Southland Christian School
for 2 years. She previously taught preschool for three year olds
at Faith Christian Academy. She is a member of Southland Church.
She and her husband, Andrew, have resided in Valdosta for several
years. They have three sons: Christian, Jarrod (UTC student), and
Justin (LHS Class of 2010). Joe Ann received her certification
as a Child Development Specialist from Valdosta Technical College. |

Mrs. Toni Hall

Toni
Hall has is starting her second year at Southland Christian School
as the first grade teacher. As a military wife she has lived
all over the country. This is the third time that she has been
in Valdosta,
though, so she feels like she is back home. She and her husband
Ron have two children: Joshua (SCS Class of 2013) and Peyton
(SCS Class of 2020). She has a Bachelor’s
of Science, in Early Childhood Education from Valdosta State
University. Her greatest thrill is to see the “light” go
on when a child understands a new concept. |

Virginia
Fletcher, our second grade teacher, has taught at Southland Christian
School for two years. She and her husband, Bobby, have lived in
Valdosta for most of their lives. They have three children: Chris,
Jennifer, and Patrick (SCS Class of 2012). Virginia holds a Bachelor
of Science in Education degree from Valdosta State University. |

Mary
Lisse, our third grade teacher, is a new addition to our Southland
family. Mary and her husband of 19 years, Dieter, have two daughters:
Amrie (SCS Class of 2014) and Alden (SCS Class of 2018). Mary has
been teaching for 15 years, eleven of them have been spent in public
school, and the last four years have been at Crossroads Baptist
School in Valdosta. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education
degree at Valdosta State University. Mary and her family attend
Christ’s Fellowship Church. |

Miss Tonya Thompson

Tonya
Thompson has taught at Southland Christian School since its inception
in 1999. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood
Education from Brewton-Parker College. She and her daughter Shelby
(SCS Class of 2010) live in Brooks County with their 3 beautiful
cats, Baby, Pookie and Jack. Tonya states, “Teaching is more
than just a job, it is my passion.” |

Connie
Spencer, our 5th grade teacher, has taught at Southland Christian
School for 9 years and has served as department head for 3 of those
years. She has taught for more than 25 years in the 1st, 2nd, 4th,
and 5th grades. She and her husband, Tim, live in Quitman and have
four children Timothy, Ashlee, Savannah, and Will. They have two
adorable grandchildren. Mrs.
Spencer loves singing, traveling, and playing with her grandkids.
Mrs. Spencer states, “Each day I try to remember the 2 P’s;
to teach
with passion and to practice what I teach.” |

Coach Holly Holbrook

Holly
Holbrook has served as our Athletic Director for two years. She
is the daughter of Wesley and JoNan Holbrook and a graduate of
Lanier County High School. Holly attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural
College on a softball scholarship where her team won the Junior
College State Tournament and secured a top ten standing on the
national level. At
the conclusion of her time at ABAC, Holly transferred to Valdosta
State University where she is working on her degree in Physical
Education. She plans to pursue a Masters degree in Sports Administration.
Holly states, “I love the opportunity to work with a wonderful
group
of teachers, parents, and students everyday.” |

Miss Erin Whittle

Erin
Whittle, our Spanish teacher is presently teaching her first year
at Southland Christian School. She also teaches Economics and 5th
grade History. Erin holds a Bachelor of Business Administration
degree in Economics with a minor in Spanish from Valdosta State
University. Erin
has completed studies in London, England as well as Guadalajara,
Mexico. She is currently finishing her Foreign Language Education
certification. She is looking into pursuing masters and doctoral
degrees in Education Administration. |
